Whitesands successfully transported 20,000 tonnes of cargo in the last business year of 2013-2014 and targets to transport 120,000 tonnes of cargo in the year 2014-2015.
Mv Prosperity – the all weather ship that is owned by Whitesands, the first of its kind owned by a private group in Lakshadweep, joined the fleet as recent as September, 2014. This is a ship that can be operational throughout the year, which means be it summer, monsoons or winter there is uninterrupted cargo flow between the mainland and Lakshadweep. The ship has a capacity of 3000 metric tonnes and is built to carry anything from frozen to perishable food and from light to heavy construction material. And we at Whitesands reserves 75% of its employment opportunities for the locals in Lakshadweep.
